Q & A with Ryan Eduad

Faeryns: Can you share your journey of how (and when) you started your business/artistic career and what inspired you to pursue this path?

Ryan: I've had a lifelong fascination with art, stemming back to my childhood dreams of contributing to the comic book industry. As time passed, my artistic curiosity led me to explore various mediums, from pencils and watercolors to sculpting and creative writing.

Faeryns: What are the core values that anchor your ambitions? How do these values influence your decision-making and business/artistic direction?

Ryan: My core ambition is to create art that resonates emotionally. The power of aesthetics combined with a profound personal connection to the audience is what truly drives me.

Faeryns: Could you describe a significant challenge or obstacle you faced during your entrepreneurial/artistic journey? How did you overcome it, and what lessons did you learn from that experience?

Ryan: Building a career as an artist is undeniably challenging, especially with a full-time job and family responsibilities. Despite time constraints, my passion propels me forward, and my ability to work swiftly has been a valuable asset.

Faeryns: Innovation and differentiation are crucial in today's competitive landscape. How do you bring a unique perspective to your industry or art form? What sets you apart from others?

Ryan: I prefer to chart my own creative course rather than blindly following trends. This allows me to infuse my work with a darker and more emotionally sincere theme, setting me apart from the crowd.

Faeryns: Many entrepreneurs and artists face the tension between pursuing their creative vision and meeting market demands. How do you balance your artistic integrity with the need for commercial success?

Ryan: Striking a balance has been a struggle at times, particularly when succumbing to consumer demands through fan art. However, once I'm immersed in an idea, I prioritize authenticity over commercial pressures.

Faeryns: Collaboration can be a powerful tool in entrepreneurship and art. Could you share an example of a successful collaboration or partnership that has benefited your business or artistic career? What made it successful?

Ryan: Collaborations with fellow artists Rom and Sirona have opened doors to networking and exposure, introducing me to new events and opportunities. The success lies in our shared passion and complementary skills.

Faeryns: Artists often face the challenge of monetizing their work. Can you discuss your approach to pricing, marketing, and reaching your target audience? How do you find a balance between the creative process and the business side of your work?

Ryan: While monetizing art was not my initial focus, I've made attempts to align with collector preferences. Balancing creativity and commerce remains a work in progress, but it's a journey I'm committed to.

Faeryns: Social impact and sustainability are important considerations today. In what ways do you incorporate social or environmental responsibility into your business/artistic practices?

Ryan: While social impact isn't at the forefront of my thoughts, I'm conscious of the emotional resonance my art can evoke. It's a responsibility I hold in high regard.

Faeryns: Entrepreneurship and artistry can be demanding, with long hours and high expectations. How do you maintain your motivation, resilience, and work-life balance throughout your journey?

Ryan: Finding balance among family, work, and art is an ongoing challenge. Yet, my unwavering passion keeps me motivated, and consistency remains key.

Faeryns: What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs/artists who are looking to pursue ambitious goals while staying true to their values?

Ryan: Embrace consistency. It's the driving force behind transformative change and growth.

Faeryns: Looking back at your journey, is there anything you wish you had known or done differently? What advice would you give to your younger self?

Ryan: I'd advise my younger self to never take a hiatus from creativity and to explore diverse art mediums earlier on.

Ryan: Abstract artist Ryan Hewett and Charcoal artist Casey Baugh have been my guiding lights, shaping my artistic perspective and aspirations.

Faeryns: Can you share a story or moment that stands out as a highlight or turning point in your entrepreneurial/artistic career?

Ryan: Participating in LA Comicon marked a pivotal moment. It introduced me to fellow artists Rom and Sirona and expanded my audience, creating a tangible connection between my work and those who admire it.

Faeryns: Finally, what's next for your business/artistic pursuits? What ambitions do you have for the future?

Ryan: Currently, I'm in the early stages of developing a potential children's book or short film. I'm excited to expand my collection of coffee stain pieces and delve into the realm of resin painting, all while continuing my artistic journey with unwavering passion.
